Justin Gaethje Missed Arman Tsarukyan vs. Mauricio Ruffy Bout for Call With President Trump

UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje confirmed he missed the entirety of the first round between Arman Tsarukyan and Mauricio Ruffy due to a four-minute phone call with President Donald Trump. Gaethje stated he received the call immediately after the opening bell of the co-main event at UFC 331.

During his appearance on the One Night With Steiny podcast, Gaethje explained that he had intended to watch the fight to scout a potential future opponent. However, the conversation—which also included golfer Bryson DeChambeau and focused on the topic of golf—preoccupied him until the conclusion of the round, by which point Tsarukyan had secured a knockout finish.
