Michael Morales Targets Welterweight Title Bout Following 7-0 UFC Start

Michael Morales, currently 7-0 in the UFC, has publicly challenged welterweight champion Islam Makhachev for a future title bout. Morales, who has not competed in 2026, expressed frustration regarding his current position in the division. He previously served as the backup fighter for Makhachev’s successful title defense against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 in August.

Morales also directed callouts toward Carlos Prates and Shavkat Rakhmonov, seeking high-profile matchups to solidify his standing. Regarding Ian Machado Garry, Morales stated personal opposition, which prompted a swift rebuttal from the Irishman. Garry claimed via social media that he has already accepted a fight date against Morales behind the scenes, alleging that Morales is making public excuses while receiving different messages in private.
