Jean Silva Backs Carlos Prates for Future Welterweight Title Opportunity

Carlos Prates has stated he reached an agreement with the UFC to challenge welterweight champion Islam Makhachev, with a date and location currently pending. Prates earned his status as a top contender following recent knockout victories over former champions Leon Edwards and Jack Della Maddalena.

Teammate Jean Silva, who recently defeated Jose Delgado to reach a 7-1 promotional record, believes Prates possesses the necessary knockout power to end Makhachev’s reign. Silva argued that Makhachev would be unable to trade strikes with Prates for five rounds without sustaining a fight-ending blow. The two fighters train together at Fighting Nerds in Sao Paulo alongside middleweight contender Caio Borralho. Silva attributed their team's recent success in the rankings to rigorous preparation and strategic planning.
