Khamzat Chimaev Targets Winner of Potential Strickland-Imavov Bout

Khamzat Chimaev has expressed his intent to wait for the winner of a projected middleweight championship fight between reigning titleholder Sean Strickland and Nassourdine Imavov. The potential matchup between Strickland and Imavov is anticipated to take place in early 2027.

Chimaev is coming off a decision loss to Strickland at UFC 328 in May 2026. Following that defeat, Chimaev has stated his desire to reclaim the 185-pound title. During a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Chimaev maintained that he should face the winner of the upcoming bout, asserting that he views himself as the rightful champion despite the official result of his previous encounter.
